Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Our beloved and dear brother Miguel Robles, who recently moved from Kansas to Virginia, ascended to the spirit world late night on Tuesday, July 12, in Virginia in the presence of his wife and son. His heart never wavered since joining the Unification movement in 1973. He used to say, "all I want to do is Father's will centered on God. God knows my heart." He is survived by his wife Mary Helen, his son Milen, his daughter in law Yiyoung, and his three grandchildren.

Let us join together in support of Miguel's family during this important and special time and offer our prayers for his victorious transition to a glorious new life in the spiritual world.

Following is a biography from his wife Mary Helen and his former pastor in Kansas Peeter Saarna.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ki Hoon Kim

Miguel A. Robles was born in Puerto Rico on February 28, 1944. When he was a young boy of five years, his family moved to New York City, where he grew up with his four siblings in the Lower East Side. He met and joined the Unification Church in 1973 and never looked back. His first five years in the church were spent fundraising, followed by restoration work at the World Mission Center at the New Yorker Hotel. He also worked later with Ilhwa Health Food stores in Cleveland and in New York. He was Blessed to Mary Helen (Mertz) Berke in 1982 at the Madison Square Garden as part of the 2075 Couples’ Blessing.

Miguel loved to make people laugh. He had a quick wit and he was known for his jokes. He moved his family from the Big Apple to the Little Apple in Manhattan, Kansas in 1987, when their only son Milen, was 3 years old. He then initiated his Home Church Ministry where he brought many people to his home for both spiritual and physical food. He kept holding services in his home up until his health began to decline. One of his favorite stories was that once True Father came in the room, and when he looked at Miguel, he started singing Amazing Grace. Miguel always loved to tell this story.

On June 12, 2016, Miguel and Mary Helen moved to Yorktown, VA to be closer to their son’s family and closer to their three grandchildren. He ascended in VA one month later on July 12, 2016 in the presence of his wife and son. His Seongwha ceremony was held on July 17 and attended by the immediate family and close friends.

Miguel has always been very serious about his Tribal Messiah work. He used to say, “All I want to do is Father’s will centered on God. God knows my heart.”

Miguel was one of my best friends. Always straightforward, he was always very sincere and clear. No matter what the challenge, great or small, he was someone who was always loving to his friends and always honest. He strength was his heart. I remember one day we were FR and rather discouraged. Then we looked over into the next yard and there was a donkey! We laughed so hard, it was easy to re-determine and finish our day well. Miguel brought peace into his relationships, a peace that was created in his relationship to God and carried in his heart. He was a favorite son of Heaven, and loyal friend on earth. Sorry you had to leave so soon Miguel, but I know you did well while you were here. Many blessings to you!

In the Winter 1984-85 issue of The Blessing Quarterly there’s a section in the back with “New Babies.” There’s a lovely picture of Miguel, Mary and their son, Milen there. I never knew Miguel or his family but I always thought they looked like such a loving family!

On one level they seemed like such an unlikely couple and yet they were a couple that seemed to fit. I knew Mary Helen from Colorado and I only met Miguel at there Blessing. I am a better man for having known them.

Thanks for having had a such wonderful man with us during his lifetime. Thanks for his testimony, I may understand why he had to be found by TP by Unification Church…
May God and TP bless be with him, his family and friends.
Sincerely, Marta de Carvalho – WFWP/Portugal – Europe

I will miss my old friend. We met back in 1973. It was always a pleasure bumping into him over the years. Funny and faithful. Our prayers are with the family at this time.

To Mary Helen and family: You have my loving prayers of gratitude and deepest appreciation for the legacy of heart and compassion of our brother and friend, Miguel. You can be assured that he is well and present with our True Father. Today we , brothers and sisters worldwide, are celebrating the 4th Seunghwa Ceremony of our True Father. Know that together we are One and the victory of TF is Miguel’s victory. His victory is our Victory. Our path has not been easy. God too is comforted by our meaningful suffering. Somos Uno! His life has been a strong and vertical witness. I pray for you and your entire family, love from Lorna, Stephen, and James Galvan.

    Brother Miguel,

Blessings to you. The day I heard of your passing rushed many memories to my mind of the early New York days. You and your lovely wife Mary Helen raised a fine son who has brought honor to your family. God bless your transition and peace to your family.

    Hi Miguel,
I remember when we used to fundraise the parking lots of Connecticut together in 1975. You always sang the Elvis Presley song, “Return to Sender.” God bless you. We’ll meet again.
