Michael Akira Escobar Iwasaki was born in Newark, New Jersey on July 29, 1999. He was the second son of Humberto and Makiko Escobar, who received the Marriage Blessing in 1992 as part of the 30,000 Couples Blessing. Michael and his family moved to Jersey City, where he began excelling in school. While in elementary school, he reached the 300 Club by getting a perfect score on the NJ ASK. Michael then graduated from middle school as salutatorian. He maintained his academic performance throughout his high school years, graduating as salutatorian again. After high school, he went to the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark to pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Michael–together with his brothers–volunteered throughout the communities that he resided, played, and studied in; from cleaning the neighborhood parks to the community garden.
Michael Escobar ascended to the Spirit World on January 29, 2019. Michael is survived by his father Humberto, mother Makiko, and his brothers, Robert and Brian. Michael was an active member of our community. He volunteered for several programs, such as GO, Il Shim, Sunday School, and Sunday Service. Michael’s passing is very unexpected and devastating for the family and for all of us. Even though the circumstances were tragic and unfortunate, the love of Heavenly Parent is deep and wide enough to embrace Michael to the glory of heaven.

What a beautiful testimony to the life of such a wonderful young person. My condolences to the family for their loss. He was a true high flier while on his earth and I am sure that his gifts will continue to expand in the spiritual realms. May God’s Love and Blessings be with him and his family during this special time.
