Melvin “Myung Bin” Joseph Mouton is the fourth oldest out of seven other siblings (James Mouton, Shirley Hollier, Gwend Mouton, Robert Mouton, Anthony Mouton (deceased), Cherro Ann Lafontaine, and Linda Spurlock). He was born on July 17, 1951 in Lafeyette, Lousiana to Kenry Mouton and Theresa Journet.
Myung Bin served in the US Air Force for three years and graduated with an Associates degree in Architecture in Tampa, Florida on December 22, 1976. After graduating, he met James Fleming who brought him to the Unification Movement. After hearing the Divine Principle, Myung Bin committed himself to a life of faith by devoting himself entirely to serving God and helping to restore God’s Kingdom on Earth. He traveled to Africa, Korea, Japan and to the Philippines for missionary work to inspire others about living for the sake of God.
Myung Bin received the Marriage Blessing with Virginia Oracion Mouton on January 12, 1989. Myung Bin and Virginia Mouton have been married for a total of 29 years and have two daughters, Jong Sun (25) and Miyung Mouton (20). Myung Bin cared deeply for his family and always shared his pride for his daughters’ achievements; his eldest daughter is a musician and a graduate of IU Bloomington with a Bachelors in Biochemistry and his youngest currently attending Herron School of Art at IUPUI for Visual Communications & Design. He was also a talented artist and he had a passion for music, sharing his heart through his singing. He often sang for his family and True Parents.
God, True Parents, and his family were of the utmost importance to Myung Bin and his love for them was undying. His faith was unshakable and he never hesitated to share his faith with those around him.

Melvin will be missed by many on this earth, but welcomed with open arms in the eternal world of love. where he again will be with and see True Father, whom he had many times guarded with his faithful spirit, at the ready to die for Him if needed. One of the greatest and most uplifting Sanghwa I ever attended. I was honored to be one of the brothers that did the washing ceremony, and what an uplifting and holy ceremony it was! So light, so beautiful, so divine to say the least. Virginia, his wife, brothers, Bruce Smith, Jack Harford, Bobby Maull, myself and my wife Cynthiana were there. Virginia and myself were washing Myung Bin, while others holding the body. We were washing, loving him and talking to him. It was so beautiful, so natural. You know what? This ceremony gave me the feeling that we are truly family from one True Parents. We lovingly clothed him in his holy robe and he looked so beautiful, so peaceful and so happy. He was actually smiling all the time. Even the man who work at the funeral place commented on him saying. “I can’t explain it he is smiling.” The Sanghwa ceremony was beautiful also. But what finished it all and deeply moved me is the military ceremony, the flag folding and the sound of trumpet the airforce did in his honor. No words to describe it but profound, and sacred. The soldiers moved so gentley, almost in slow motion, as the two soldiers folded the flag in a triangular shape. They were so detailed in their moves in slow motion almost like robots. When they finished the flag folding, one men marched to blow his trumpet in Myung Bin honor and the other soldier handed the flag to Virginia. Wow! What a powerful ceremony! It is so full of symbolism. Another point that shows how deeply God is embedded in America, praise God! Our brother Myung Bin had a royal Sanghwa to say the least. What a wonderful transition.

Thank you so much Ali for this beautiful testimony. I was in Korea with our wonderful brother Myung Bin Joseph in the North Church (Buk Bu Kyo Hae) of Chung Ju City. Many funny and wonderful memories there with him. He knew my husband from working together in Boston and was a terrific part of our early days after the Blessing… getting up early, in the dark to deliver the Seyge Il Bo newspaper!! Thank you dear brother for all you gave to those around you and for your love and undying faith for True Parents. Love and comfort to his beautiful family who I met many years later in the cafeteria at Cheong Pyeong. God Bless you Myung Bin in your new pioneering adventure, we will miss you here. Praying for peace and great love and support for Virginia and your daughters.

Thank you so much Brother Ali for this testimony. Thank you for organizing the Ipjeon ceremony and organizing the brothers to carry the casket. I had a beautiful experience during the Ipjeon ceremony and the Seonghwa Ceremony. Since I was young, I used to be scared of dead body. I was wondering how should I react during the Ipjeon Ceremony. To my surprise, I wasn’t scared at all. Also before everyone came in for the Seonghwa Ceremony, the lady opened the casket so that we can say our final goodbye to him. He let me know that he was there to attend his Seonghwa. One of the branches of the flower arrangements by his head area, intentionally moved. I was the only one who saw it. So I said to him, “Ok, you’re here. Thanks for letting me know.”
After the Wonjeon Ceremony, I posted the pictures and video on facebook. My classmate in High School saw those pictures and he listened to the Holy Song that I video taped. He felt goose bumps listening to the song. He realized those were the songs he used to sing when he just joined the church. He was disconnected after being so busy with school works. I reconnected him to our church in Cebu City, Philippines. I felt, right away Myung Bin is already witnessing through his Seonghwa.
