Born on May 5, 1965 in San Diego CA, Laurie Kimberly Shoultz is the last child of 9 children. She had 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
By the age of 14 years old, Laurie learned the Divine Principle from her sister Jeri Wade Tamayo, but she wasn’t ready to commit to the Unification movement at the time.
Laurie took her GED and finished Job Corp, then worked as an office manager for a cleaning company and as a deck hand for a charter fishing company in Washington. She and her brother Rob shared an apartment and even went to work together for a time. These are fond memories she told many times.
Laurie has said that one of her life-changing moments was when a hurricane in her town left just one boat untouched. It was the boat that she slept on during the hurricane. Laurie also survived a ruptured appendix at the age of 14.
She inherited her love for Jesus from her mother, which led her on the path to Divine Principle and True Parents. By the 1980’s, Laurie was fundraising, assisting in child care, and visiting ministers with her central figures, following her missions from Wyoming to New York.
In 1989, she went to the matching and blessing in South Korea where she was introduced to and Blessed in marriage with her husband Andrew.
Together, they had three loving children, Johanna, Olivia, and Andrew. The family first resided in Iowa, then moved to Reno where they raised their family until 2004-5. There, they created the Blessed Teens Academy.
Laurie carried this experience with her to help Generation Peace Acadamy as module organizers and caregivers. Later, Laurie and her family moved to Philadelphia to refurbish the church building and grow the Unification Church ministry. In 2014, Laurie and Andrew moved to the Bay Area to live and work with the Hearst house students as dorm caregivers.
Her family of five can testify to her wisdom and openness to learning from experience and from others knowledge. Her heart was always to help build a solid community of faith for Heavenly Parent and True Parents.
At her Seonghwa, what Laurie wants more than anything is for those gathered to enjoy themselves while sharing their mutual affection for her and laughing about her ways, her methods of bringing joy and comfort.

“Celebrating the Life and Love of Aunt Laurie”
A huge turnout came to Bay Area Family Church gathered at Bay Area Family Church for the Seonghwa of Laurie Schoultz. Such was her impact on so many people that so many people from so many locations who had been touched by “Aunt Laurie” from the many areas where she held missions. Laurie had a unique ability to love people without needing to lecture them. She had a huge mothers heart toward everyone she met. Her husband Andy read her bio with humor and passion, as well as expressing his anger at cancer. Daughter Johanna sang a song for her mom and son Andy Jr shared how he saw his mom be able to connect to every person she met. Pastor Kevin Thompson shared that Laurie’s life inspired others to raise their own standards and put not practice True Parent’s words to Live For The Sake of Others. After the official Seonghwa, such was the demand, that a second session of testimonies and sharing continued upstairs with hundreds attending.

I remember Laurie from her work with Andrew with Generation Peace Academy, particularly when they were living at Morning Garden in Gloucester, hosting the Education Module for GPA. She was a great host, and her family was a model of working together as a team to support God’s Providence. Well done Laurie.

I remember Laurie when she first came to visit our church in Detroit where her sister Jeri was living. She was a bright, bubbly teenager and I felt the deep love shared between the two sisters. So sorry to hear of her too-early passing, and no doubt she leaves behind many hearts who will miss her deeply.

The first words that always come first to my mind when i think of you is a Heart of Gold. I am sure you are needed in heaven at this time, its the only explanation i can find. You have touched the lives of so many young people and you have loved them as your own children. Your family will be blessed.

Dear Lauri,
What comes to mind about your passing is my favorite passage of the book “The Shack” when Papa (God) says: “Just because I work incredible good out of tragedies and hardships doesn’t mean I orchestrate the tragedies. Don’t ever assume that my using something means I caused it or that I need it to accomplish my purposes.”
You have gone on and wherever you are Lauri you are a shining light filled with love for whoever is with you. We will miss you but we know you are a force for goodness and love now on the other side. May all the people who have been blessed by your love keep it in their hearts and may it help them remember who they truly are.

Dear Laurie, Andrew, Johanna, Olivia, and Andy Jr. You’ve been in my nightly prayers ever since I first found out a year or so ago and as time passed, I hoped for the best. And now, I remember that when Abonim passed, Omonim looked as heavy-hearted as anyone ever could. I feel it, and I think you must also. I can only remember that working with you was one of the high points in my life — really LFSO, united as a good team, the way Our Parents taught us, makes for warm memories of a remarkable offering that I will always be grateful for and proud of. Thank you very, Very much for that… I expect that Laurie is in the high company of other extraordinarily generous people, but I’m sure that her steadfast heart is with so many of us down here, with unchanging concern and hope. I shall always love Laurie and I look forward to seeing her again the spirit world. My wife Hiromi and I recently had the good fortune to spend time with her, Andy and their remarkable children…Andrew, Olivia and Johanna…here in Colorado.
I have known Laurie for many years. I have always been very proud of her and I always will be proud of her…forever.
Whenever I think of Laurie…I think of Father’s words. “Always live for the sake of of others.”
Laurie was the living example of those words. That is how she lived her life every single day.
When Laurie was here…she was radiant with joy every moment. We hugged each other everytime we saw each other.
One thing is certain…Laurie would not want anyone to feel sorrow or pain because of her heavenly ascension.
She would probably mildly berate us for that attitude.
I shall always miss Laurie and always think of her.
Until we meet again.
Then we can simply take up where started here in Colorsdo…
We will simply start hugging again.

If you don’t mind reading my response . It’s not in place of Laurie but I’d like to maintain that she and I will share the same heart and mind as one for eternity.
Your out pouring of loving words assures me she is truly lifted up quickly to the higher realms of SW. Nothing could be more comforting to know about her. We will keep you all in our prayers.
Hence Roger Wise’ writing he has also ascended to be next to true father , I’m sure. An upstanding and naturally decent patriot of the ideal America , we will always look up to him. A tireless man for truth good will to all.
