In Memory of Kent Johnston

Name: Kent Johnston
Spouse: Viviane
Children: Coree, Charles, Beni, and Jeanette
Birth Date: April 14, 1954
Blessed Date: July 1, 1982
Ascension Date: September 7, 2019

Kent was born on April 14, 1954 in New York City to parents Irene Graham and Thomas Johnston. They lived together in Toronto, Canada and later San Francisco, where he met and joined the Unification Movement.

A decade of mission followed as he participated in international, interracial, and interreligious initiatives to help bring about a more peaceful world led by Rev. and Mrs. Moon. Kent was matched and received the Blessing of marriage to Viviane Francis on July 1, 1982.

In 1985 the Johnstons moved to the Gulf Coast to work in the shipbuilding business. From there Kent made the decision to start his own business selling books in order to have the flexibility of time to invest in his greatest joy: raising his children.

Kent was superman and did it all at times. While building his business, he’d come home to cook elaborate meals, and then gather the family together each evening to read from his extensive collection of books, both religious and secular, ever seeking to obtain and bequeath wisdom and knowledge.

Kent departed from this life on September 7, 2019. He leaves his wife Viviane, children Coree, Charles, Beni, and Jeanette, their spouses and his grandchildren, as well as a loving community of beautiful souls to cherish his memory.

I worked with Kent around 1976. We had such a good time, he was unforgettable. Always bright and bringing laughter and joy. Even though we didn’t work together again, every time we would bump into each other at church events it was as if a day hadn’t passed and he was just as bright as ever.
God bless Kent and his family.

I never forgot Kent. He was one of my MFT captains and was very kind. If a situation arose where a reprimand was called for, well, he would do that – with enthusiasm! And then, he’s sing you a song.
    Happy Trails, Kent.

Kent was my MFT captain in Chicago. He was known for falling asleep and missing our after-blitzing pickups, but we all loved him anyway because he was so warmhearted and had such a ready smile. Godspeed Kent! And may your family be comforted at this transition time and always.

    Viviane,
You don’t know me but I went to public school and high school with Kent. He lived a few doors down from me. We were good friends up until the time he left Montreal. He was one of the smartest guys in class and a could really draw well. He once said he was going to build an airplane in his garage and I believed him. If anyone could do it, he could. I’ve often “googled” Kent over the years but couldn’t find him …. until today. I’m so sorry for your loss. I wish I could have reconnected.
