Inseok Joey Shin was born on February 14, 1970 (January 9 by the Heavenly Calendar) in Seoul Korea as the second child of Mr. Yang Ki Shin and Mrs. Sook Ki Kim, a 430 Blessed Couple. He has an elder brother and a younger sister.
Inseok attended Dong Myoung Elementary School, Kuro Middle and High School and Han Yang University where he completed his undergraduate studies with a major in Physics. During his college years from 1988 to 1990, he volunteered as secretary of the Second Generation Department of the Korean Unification Church, and from 1990 to 1992, served in the Korean Army.
On August 25, 1992, in the Second Generation 200 Couples’ Blessing, Inseok was Blessed with Hyosook Kim, third daughter of Rev. Young Hwi Kim and Mrs. Dae Wha Chung, a 36 Blessed Couple. They have one daughter, Katie who is 13 years old and one son, Edward who is 12 years old.
Inseok graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Physics and Computer Science. His career path led him to the Motorola Corporation where he worked as a Software Engineer. He worked with Motorola until 2008, while earning his Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Chicago in 2011. From 2010 to 2018, he worked as a Spot Trade Financial Analyst.
In his leisure time, Inseok enjoyed reading and taking walks in the park with his family. He golfed occasionally and loved playing baseball with his son. Although he was ambitious in his professional career, he was very responsible in supporting his family. He spent as much time as he could caring for his family as a loving husband and proud father.
Inseok and his family invested greatly in the growth and development of their community. He attended Sunday Service regularly, served as an accountant for Chicago KEA second generation Rev. Ryu and later served as a member of the Council of the Chicago Family Church.
Inseok left us far too early on Tuesday, October 30 after a fighting a long battle with a brain tumor. We will always remember him as a True Son of God who spread warmth and compassion to those around him and lived his life to its fullest potential. He will be dearly missed, but eternally loved.
Seonghwa Service
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, November 5 for visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and Seonghwa Ceremony from 7:00 PM at the Morizzo Funeral Home, 2550 West Hassell Rd., Hoffman Estates, IL 60169. A Won Jeon Ceremony will be arranged at a later date.
