Today, our American Unification Family joins our British and worldwide community in sending our greetings and love to our beloved elder sister Doris Orme as she enters the Heavenly realm. Doris will always be remembered in the United States with affection and appreciation for her love and devotion to God, especially in those early years of our Unification movement. She was one of the very first people in the Western world to meet True Parents, joyfully and confidently spreading the new gospel of God’s coming kingdom. In every sense, she was a spiritual pioneer and our elder sister, and we will miss her. We offer our sincere prayers and condolences to Dennis, Donna, and all the family.

Though in later years our paths diverged quite widely, the Scriptures remind us that even when we frail human beings neglect our duty to love, thank and appreciate each other, God will never, ever forget our sincere work for heaven, in this world or the next. “God is not unjust,” says Hebrews 6:10 “He will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.”

Though the last days of Doris’ earthly life were a time of trial, today should be seen as a happy day, a day of liberation, not the end but a new beginning. Before his own ascension in 2012, True Father, Rev. Moon often reminded us that, just as the baby in the womb cannot comprehend the enormity of this earthly world, we also struggle to understand that life in the spirit world is vast and glorious beyond our imagination:

“The moment we enter the spirit world should be a time that we enter a world of joy and victory with the fruits born of our lives on earth. It is a time for those of us remaining on earth to send off the departed with joy. It should be a time for great celebration. We should be shedding tears of joy instead of tears of sadness as the spirit of the departed takes toward enjoying eternal life in attendance of God, within His embrace.”

Dear Doris, our elder sister, as you leave us now and step forward now into this glorious and final phase of your journey to oneness with God, our Heavenly Parent, please know our American family movement is praying for you and offering you our love and gratitude!

I fondly remember Doris and her husband from the IOWC phase of our church development in the US. She had a huge, operatic singing voice, which was an expression of her considerable spiritual power. We lived and worked and traveled together in big teams. She used to sing to us, giving us great confidence in the value and purpose of our work together. She is someone that, once met, is impossible to forget!

Today I was blessed to officiate at the service to celebrate the life and entry into heaven of Doris Orme, the first person in the Western world to accept the Principle. This was the eulogy:

Doris Barbara Walder was born in New Jersey 8th January 1930. Her parents were Frederick and Hedwig Walder. Her father was a descendent of Frederick, the last Kaiser of Germany, and thus of Queen Victoria. She had a sister Norma and a brother Freddy.

Doris married and moved with her husband to Oregon where she had two children Lori and Terry.

In 1959 she met Miss Young Oon Kim, a Korean missionary sent to the United States by Sun Myung Moon. Doris became the first follower of Sun Myung Moon in the Western world. With two other women she joined a group to study the Principle with Miss Kim. They were all caught up in the spirit and decided to become missionaries for God and moved with Miss Kim to San Francisco. They called themselves the Unified Family and established a network of centres and a pattern of living and activities that came to spread throughout the United States and later Europe.

In 1960 the small Unified Family celebrated the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and shared a piece of the cake that was brought from the event in Korea. At this celebration they were very high in the spirit. Miss Kim came to call Doris “God’s Fireball’ because she was always on fire for God witnessing and bringing people to the Lord. Doris and Pauline worked as waitresses in a restaurants and witnessed to their customers such as the district attorney general and chief of police.

Doris later moved to Los Angeles where there was a centre at Inglewood. There Doris witnessed to Zed Robinson – an entertainer who sold everything to join and funded Sun Myung Moon’s 1965 world tour to establish holy grounds. She also witnessed to Teddy Verheyen who became the missionary to Holland and Ursula Schumann, a very attractive and well educated German girl. Ursula herself witnessed to other Germans such as Peter Koch and Paul Werner. Paul, Peter and Ursula went to Europe as missionaries to Austria, Germany and Spain respectfully making Doris the ancestor of the European movement. Doris continued to pioneer many cities and states in America bringing many people into the Unified Family.

In 1965 Doris had a revelation of being in Italy with the Pope. Miss Kim reported this to Father Moon who sent her to Italy. She set out in faith with just a suitcase and a $100 but no idea where she would stay. On the plane she sat next to a little old lady who invited her to stay with her in Rome. She introduced Doris to an Italian priest, Pastor Nua, who would say to Doris. ‘I am small potatoes; you are big potatoes’. One day the priest saw Doris praying in front of Vatican and told her. “I’ve got a ticket to sit with the Pope.” He gave it to her and so she went to sit with the Pope. The Pope wanted to start an ecumenical movement and in 1960 appointed a priest from New Jersey, Father Thomas Stransky, to be one of the founding members of the Secretariat for the Promotion of Christian Unity. The lady Doris was staying with introduced her to Father Stransky and so Doris came to assist him in the development of the ecumenical movement.

In Rome Doris witnessed to Barbara Burrows, later van Praag, who became a very successful missionary in her own right. The Unified Family in Rome expanded and an Englishman, Martin Porter, who was a descendant of Edward the Confessor joined. He later became the national leader of Italy. He was blessed to Dawn Faroni whose father was a wealthy doctor who owned several hospitals in Rome. Doris had healed Dawn by teaching her the Principle. Her father went on to protect Doris from political opponents by testifying that she was a woman of God.

In 1967 Doris went to Amsterdam where she stayed with Teddy Verheyen on his canal boat. While she was there she became very sick and was taken care of by the Vanderstock family in Laren. She recovered and the family was so impressed by her that they all joined. This family contributed hugely to the development of God’s work in several countries

The following year Doris came to the UK. She had previously sent June Darby and Patricia Hartmann to England from Italy to start the movement. As the senior member Doris took over leadership of the Family. Doris was invited to Findhorn by Anthony Brooke, the Rajah Muda of Sarawak who she had met in California. Brooke was taken by Miss Kim to meet Father Moon in Korea where he testified that he was the messiah. Brooke later became very well known for his work for peace and spirituality. In Findhorn Doris taught three chapters of the Divine Principle and Dennis who was living there at the time received a revelation it was true as well as a revelation of Father Moon. Dennis left Findhorn and followed Doris to London. He moved into the centre in the Old Brompton Road where he joined June Darby, Patricia Hartmann and her sister, Alec Herzer, Ian Alexander, Christopher Vipond Davies and others.

In 1969 Doris was blessed to Dennis and they remained devoted to each other for the rest of their lives. In 1970 Doris was very happy to give birth to Young Oon, the first blessed child in the western world who she loved very much.

Over the following eight years they worked hard together with other members to revitalize and evangelise the nation. Doris brought forth a movement that was very inspired and filled with revelations and amazing activity. During these fruitful years many capable members joined and all the properties that form the basis of the movement in the UK until this day were acquired.

Doris was a great crusade leader. Her teams travelled around Britain and Europe witnessing and doubling in size as they went. She was a wonderful singer and spirit filled preacher. The Unified Family singers entered the Reading Festival held to celebrate the 1100th anniversary of city and were a huge success.

In April 1978 the control of the UK movement passed into the hands of Father Moon and subsequently a series of Korean and Japanese leaders. Dories and Dennis moved to Germany where they successfully led the One World Crusade in the north region for three years.

After that they moved to the United States where amongst other things they were IWs and church leaders in Washington and California. In Washington Doris reached out to black churches where she sang gospel songs and won the respect of the black community. Dennis and Doris were both awarded honorary doctorates from Howard University which is the most respected black university in the United States for their work in under-privileged communities and for their stand for the rights of African Americans to be treated equally.

In 1993 Doris received a revelation that they were now living in the direct dominion of God and were free to pursue their own spirituality without restriction for the golden age that is to come. Over the next few years Doris received a series of revelations which were published in a book.

In recent years the Ormes took a firm stand against the invasion of Iraq and strongly supported peace and the end of violence. Living in a staunchly Republican area they bravely spoke in support of Obama and Doris was very happy when he was elected the first black president of the United States. In summary Doris was an extraordinary person who loved God passionately and fought for the souls of nations and continents.

Doris was a real icon and early hero of our movement. Together with Eileen Welch and Pauline Verheyan, these 3 sisters were a powerful spiritual team that were the earliest supporters of the first Korean missionary to the USA, Kim, Young Oon. They were all very spiritual and Pentacostal. If you had the privilege of hearing Doris sing, she had incredible charisma and presence and God really worked through her to bring new life to so many many young people in UK and Europe and in the USA, together with her wonderful husband, Dennis. In her later years, I understand she suffered a great deal from a physical ailment. Now she is released to go in her eternal body to help our Beloved True Father and Jesus in this most important New Age. Thank you for your courage, Doris!

Thank you Doris for being a true pionneer! I only met you once in Chislehurst just before you gave your testimony! I wanted so much to hear it but you asked me to look after your young daughter instead. Young Oon felt my disappointment and told me that she was sorry I could not attend your testimony because of her. I was so moved by her sensitivity and I quickly changed my attitude and took care of her. Doris, though unknown to you, you have many spiritual grand children and great grand children and so forth! I happen to be one of your spiritual descendants at the 7th generationtherefore I believe you can find some joy and satisfaction when you enter the eternal spiritual world. I am sure you will support our True Father well in the SW as you did when you first joined. Please go in peace! Colette Takigawa

Doris you are dearly missed by many.

Your Vibrant personality inspired me. Even the first time we met as you gave your testimony, I was captivated by your love for Jesus and Father Moon. You testified to Jesus with intense personal experiences and brought the depth of your relationship into my heart. I felt I was being reborn. My own life had been filled with a desire to bring peace in the World and with 16 , as a school girl, I had started to write leaflets on Uniting the world and to bring peace. Through meeting our Family this was a promising start to becoming a reality.
On leaving with the train I started to hear music from the highest realms. This was the Halleluja Chorus.
I had never experienced this before. This continued quite a long time on my train journey to Scotland.
This was for me a sign of rebirth Doris. This was a fact .

Doris you served as my Mentor over several years together with your husband Dennis. Even as I had travelled to USA and went on to Tanzania as missionary. Still my thoughts were with you .
One night you woke me up and we talked about 2 hours at 3am.
I will never forget this telephone call . A month later I heard you have gone away.
This call was about Korean leaders and many difficulties you had observed with those directly surrounding Father and Mother Moon.
Your resolve was surely based on facts you could not ignore.
Sorry……for that. Father Moon had often mentioned how he felt about those Korean leaders around him. This was surely not an easy time for him. He said the Korean leaders didn’t understand him.
After your departure from the movement I needed 2 weeks or so , to accept your decision.
I must say even you had tried to explain to me I didnt know your plans or your decision.
I am grateful this telephone call had not tried to dissuade me from the way which I follow with eternal gratefulness to you.

Thankyou Doris for your many years of investment for our Family and the foundation you laid in the United Kingdom and Europe . Your precious care for me I will never forget. Your encouragement when times were tough. Your many tears and conditions made for the mission towards a peaceful world. An absolute unforgettable faithful investment with Father and Mother Moon over many years. The founders were inspired by your initiative and Musical Talent. Home Church providence began in England in the U K. 1978 was a starting point.

All these years we have not met. I searched for you and discovered you were in Australia and later USA. Then even you returned home here to London I only received Dennis number about 2 weeks ago.
I was amazed. The first telephone call with Dennis was great. Just like in the 70s. His loving concern, his heartistic understanding Tone, ” what can I do for you?”. It was good to feel home again. Remembering you both as 1, opinion differences you may have had- however this is not aneasy life with too many choice.

I wish you well Doris. My prayers and the prayers of many are here. Hans Campmann send wishes and also Angelika Selle said. ” Heavenly Father needs strong women to help now”.

Doris you have been called by the creator , your creator, our HF. Gratefully Yours.
Looking forward to hearing from you and i will do my best not to let down your desire to see the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. This work is not yet complete. Infact, today’s world is in the last days where crazy people are killing and ravaging without reason. The message we carry is indeed one of Inspiration and hope of settlement.
I pray you will assist in bringing peace on our earth. The end of war and suffering needs your wonderful care and attention.
    All the best Doris.

Let me know if one can eat fruits in the highest realms.

Doris is a legend who True Father awaits for with open arms to bring to Heavenly Parent :how can we ever forget you?.We miss you and wish we could hug you to pieces :you’re in our hearts

dear Doris & your Royal Albert Hall grand finale revibrates your spirit singing from the heart together with the Divine Principle recitation can be heard spiritually when we think of you.Because you were 100% naturally good you could help encourage so many

people in bringing out their best :you never attempted to outshine anyone but enabled even the least to shine with you.Let’s hope your songs & recitation can touch the heart of our second generation as you were one of those rare persons really let out

HEAVENLY PARENT’s warm embrace love ooze from every pore unconditionally and yet you were humble and simple like a child. With every tear that rolls i can still see roll till you last coin from the purse as you took us to the seaside and brought us ice-

cream .So sorry didn’t know where to find you even though asked for years about your whereabouts and regret that even though you were recently in Europe ,a phone call away, nobody revealed this. You would talk way into the night with a heart power

spirituality like Aboji where hours seemed like seconds and young members had to be reminded their parents would be worrying and asked to return home sadly. When still a teenager and one of these young members even though returning home at dusk, would

still be inspired to witness to anybody :such was the impact of Doris who was is and will be a source of inspiration of one of the greatest followers of TRUE PARENTS in letting HEAVENLY PARENT’S LOVE flow through her towards all people she touched the

heart to make realise how precious & loved they are.We can say she couldn’t help embrace people in her heart & arms and had NOTHING to do with any members who left because they were ufortunately ill treated by heart immature leaders. We all know that

real leaders, spiritual parents are genuine because of all loving parental heart. After your 100days you will come and revive, inspire so many to rekindle the heart motored revival through which a truly historical Europe was born & will be reborn towards a naturally

HEAVEN’S WILL OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN ON EARTH . Anyone talking of Doris as an ex member sure doesn’t know what heart a true unificationist should have as unconditional true love creates eternity never stops.

The reason I joined the HSAWC in 1979 was because of Doris Orme. I was on my last day of a 21 day workshop and I prayed to our Heavenly Parent that he must show me what to do now or I would just go back to my home. Some time during that day Mrs Orme came to Chistlehurst where the workshop was, she talked to us and then sang ‘Deep River’, I knew from that moment when I heard her that this was the answer to my prayer and I went on to join the church. So thank you Mrs Orme very much for being the inspiration through which God could change my life.

Most people didn’t know Doris was back in Europe for medical treatement:none of them might have let her go in peace if they knew!.
She had a way to winning spiritual children naturally but never ‘claimed’ them as hers as actually they belong to Heavenly Parent but let the centre or team people ‘claim’ as their own especially the 3 sp children neccessary for Blessing mania:some even inherited a few due to misfortune of actual spiritual parent!.
In observing Doris’ natural way in loving people as Heavenly Parent’s own the story of the two women before king Solomon comes to mind where each claimed the baby but one agreed to Solomon’s suggestion of cutting it in two to give a piece to each!.The real mother preferred the false one to keep the baby rather than have it cut in two,as the other agreed. With time that elapsed all spiritual children ‘made by Mrs.Orme’ could grow up and chose who was their real mother in the deal ,the ‘instant’ one or the one like Heavenly Parent overcame heart pain till own children could willingly recognize as the one who really loved them unconditionally till they all came back to the real mum willingly .As Doris departs she leaves a new hope of a united Europe full of brothers & sisters who continue her natural investement to spread worldwide because she was so lovingly selfless. Many of her sown efforts might have been slow to bud but made it inspite of her tearful concern.Thank You Heavenly Parent’s Mrs.Orme & family

I had the opportunity to videotape the Testimony of Doris Orme in 1986, I will never forget the energy in the room as she gave her Testimony, I saw her transform from a youthful child to an elderly woman before my eyes as she talked about her personal moments with GOD. Doris asked me to be silent, not ask a question as the Spirit talked through her. Recently, I thought of her as I have throughout my life, finding out she had passed. I offer my heartfelt love to her family and friends, why I was chosen to be her archivist is a mystery. I am honored to have met her, an unusual Soul that GOD touched and she touched back.
