Our dear, beloved brother, Dennis Taylor, of the Tempe, Arizona community, ascended to the Spirit World on Memorial Day morning, May 29, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Dennis has been with our True Parents and our Unification family for over 40 years. He has been part of the Belvedere security team until True Father released him to focus on developing his martial arts, and Dennis went on to make great contributions in the field of Kyokushin Karate. His family and many friends will forever remember Dennis for his love of life and nature, and for his exemplary life.
Dennis is survived by his wife Melanie; his children, Reagan, Gabriel and Delani; and grandchildren, Kate, Danielle and Connor.
Let us join together and support Dennis' family, and pray for his victorious transition to a glorious new life in the spiritual world, where our True Father and many saints are waiting with open hearts and arms.

Dennis Taylor was born in 1952 and is a rare third-generation Arizonan. After serving in the Navy, he joined the Unification Church in 1975. He fundraised in Arizona and Utah to support his brothers and sisters and was soon called to New York City to assist then UC President Neil Salonen. Dennis helped to restore the newly purchased 4 West 43rd St. building and later evaluated the New Yorker Hotel.
His great physique brought attention from True Father who requested Dennis work in security at Belvedere and East Garden. Here he was introduced to Kyokushin Karate under the direction of Shigeru Oyama in Fairfield, CT. True Father released him from Belvedere so he could concentrate on the martial arts. During the next 7 years, he became a 3rd degree Black Belt, assistant to Oyama, expanded Kyokushin with a national headquarters in Greenwich Village in New York City, organized international tournaments and became an international champion. From there he moved up to Highland Falls, NY at West Point Military Academy and opened up a Kyokushin dojo there. In Arizona, Dennis worked on real estate development for ARC Steel.
He was blessed to Melanie Pinholster in Madison Square Garden in 1982. They have three children, Reagan, Gabriel, and Delani, and are blessed with 3 grandchildren, Kate, Danielle and Connor Taylor.
Dennis had a love for life, led a life of service to others, and was a wonderful example to all. His loved hiking, nature, the heat of Arizona, rock crawling in his Sukuki Samarai, camping, new ideas and politics. Melanie has no doubt Father needs warriors in heaven and called Dennis home.
Seonghwa Ceremony
The Seonghwa Ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 4, at 9 a.m. at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257.

Melanie, I rememher you and your husband. He made a deep impression on me while I was living and working at Belvedere/East Garden. I am positive True Father, Hyo Jin Nim, and Heung Jin Nim will be sure to assist him transitioning to his new mission. He lives on forever there and in our hearts! He did a great job here on earth.
