Our beloved brother, David Coryell, of the Portland Family Peace Fellowship in Oregon, ascended to the Spirit World on Thursday, June 22, suddenly and peacefully in his home. David has joined our movement 44 years ago and has been continuously involved with many activities and initiatives, whether holding an official position or not. He truly was a most dedicated and faithful son to God and True Parents. He is survived by his wife Kelly and their five children.
Let us join together to support David's family, and pray for his victorious transition to a glorious new life in the spiritual world, where our True Father and many saints are waiting for him with open arms and hearts.

David was born October 23, 1953, in Pocatello, Idaho. He is the middle child of John and Doris Coryell and he has an older brother, Eric, and younger sister, Judy. He was married to Kelly for 35 years and they have five children: Amerika, Benjamin, Sharon, Rebekah, and Elizabeth and six grandchildren: Haydn, Koriya, Felix, Mason, Lexi, and Olivia. David lived a devoted life to God and served as a pastor for much of his life. We are fortunate to have such a beautiful spirit in our lives. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday morning, June 22nd. His celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Portland Family Peace Fellowship (2620 Hughes Dr. West Linn, OR 97068).
David joined our Unification Church in Boise, ID in February 1973. He soon went on MFT with others of his fellow Idaho members, and then served as a team captain for many years.
David received the Marriage Blessing with his wife Kelly in 1982 as part of the 2075 Couples’ Blessing. They served as the State Pastors in Idaho, and David served as Assistant Regional Director under Rev. Moon Shik Kim.
After the family moved to Oregon, David served as the Pastor of the Portland Family Church in Oregon. He held this position for several years until 2013. After retiring from the pastor’s position, David remained very active in his local church community, supporting the various activities and occasionally giving the Sunday sermon.
David has also been an early supporter of the Ocean Challenge program in Kodiak and served on staff in its first years. This was a way to share his love for nature and the ocean with many others.
Over the years, David has been closely involved with the American Clergy Leadership Conference and did extensive outreach to Christian churches in his area. He joined some of the MEPI pilgrimages and was one of the 172 pastors who went to Korea at the special invitation of True Parents in 2011.
His wife Kelly said, “David is such a sweet man who loved everybody he met and always was willing to help day or night. I know he loves God and True Parents and one of his dreams was to have True Father be proud of him at the end of his life on earth. He is a wonderful man and we miss him and his sweet smile. Thank you all for your love and support.”

Rev. Coryell and I worked together in Israel in 2003, and have been friends since. We rented a fleet of cars, and David led his team all around Israel. They visited synagogues, masjids, and Christian missions inviting all to a Peace Rally on December 22nd. He did a great job as a team and outreach leader. And it was a cosmic joy to share together the crowning of Jesus as the King of Peace in the Heart of Jerusalem.

I am so surprised to learn that David has left us, but he is well prepared for where he is now going. David was a kind, gentle and devoted man. I am eternally grateful to David, for exemplifying to me, 40 years ago, that it was indeed possible to care deeply about God’s Providence and the situation of brothers and sisters at the same time. I know that he has lived with the same heart and mind to help God and help people for all these years.
I hope his family knows how much he was loved and appreciated by countless people. He is a saint, in my book. Right up there with Mother Teresa and all the others. Perhaps he is meeting with some of them right now. Thank you so much, David! For a life well lived! Ok Mansei!

I didn’t know David, but appreciate and am nourished by these beautiful testimonies. To my dearest brother, Rev. Coryell,
It is such a shock to hear about your passing.
I really pray and I believe that you will have a smooth transition to the spirit world. I will pray for you. I know that this is a path everyone must take. And yet, it feels too soon.
You were such a faithful man. Do you remember when I asked you to move from Idaho to join me in Oregon? Even when you knew you would have to face various challenges, you agreed faithfully. I am still so grateful for your support. I really thank you for your dedication and service to the Portland Family Church even after I left Oregon.
I believe Heaven remembers your sacrifices. I pray that as you leave the physical world, where you lived for the sake of others, you will enter True Father’s warm embrace in the spirit world.

Dear David !
We will miss your physical presence here on earth .but I`m sure all of us who know you will feel you when ever we recall the times we spent together ! I will never for get the wonderful experience of sharing Gods creation in Kodiak…catching salmon and large Halibut !

This was very unexpected, but am sure that such a wonderful brother as he will transcend to meet Father. The good and kindhearted David and Kelly made an offering of a child to a childless couple. Though it did not work out because of miscarriage, that couple is forever grateful to them. A truly loving brother who gave his life to True Parents, he will be missed.

I remember David and his wife Kelly to be two of the most sincere people I and my wife had the good fortune to work with both in Idaho and Oregon. I remember David always gave me good council and was a hard worker not just a talker. He worked for Heavenly God and humankind and initiated from his heart. This precious soul David. I feel sad for sister Kelly and their children they will miss him so much as will all of his heavenly family here on earth. But we will all be together again.

Ever since I met David in Boise Idaho in 1973 I knew he would do great things for God’s Providence.

David was truly a great example in our church community. Like everyone else, I was stunned to learn the news of his passing. He served faithfully in many capacities: with ACLC ministers, in various public projects, in Alaska during the fishing tournaments, at Camp Tong Il and Camp T2, and as a pastor and community member in our local congregation. He is one of the most approachable people I have ever met, having a kind and encouraging word for all. He is missed on Earth, but will work hard in Heaven. We bid him farewell for now, but will rejoice when we can see him again.

Your comments touch my heart. It has been four months now that my sweet and dear husband, David, went into the spiritual world. I find myself seldom using the word ‘passed’ only the phrase ‘when he went into the spiritual world’. We do all miss him so much and even now your comments mean a lot. But I talk to him every day. I read True Parents words about the highway between spiritual world and the physical world and believe that such a sad separation between the two worlds will soon come to an end. I feel his guidance and his presence in my life and truly, true love knows no boundaries.
