Cecilia Sawaguchi Souza was born on November 7, 1961 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The second of three sisters, she joined the Unification Movement in 1977 at 16 years old. Cecilia came to the United States as a volunteer in 1986 and fundraised around the country. In 1990, She moved to New York and was Blessed in marriage with her husband, Roni. In the five years she lived in New York, Cecilia earned her Associate Degree in Accounting and made many friends. Roni and Cecilia moved to Florida in 1995. They moved a couple of times but finally settled in Pompano Beach. In 2002, they had a beautiful daughter, Tomomi.
In 2009, she was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer; she received herbal treatments and was able to be cured. Ten years later, she fractured 14 bones in her back and found out that she had severe osteoporosis. A couple of months later, she found out that her cancer returned and was now at stage 4. After eight months of fearlessly battling, she ascended on June 9, 2019 at 12:37 AM.
Everyone who knew Cecilia knew that she had the biggest heart; she loved to help those in need. Cecilia and her daughter would always volunteer at horse stables, parks, and cultural museums. She loved to cook and would always cook for her family and friends. Cecilia was well-known for being so kind and cheerful; she still smiled in her last days. Cecilia truly touched so many hearts. Some even described her as an “angel on Earth”. Her legacy of kindness lives on with her family and friends.

Cecilia will be missed but don’t go away. You walk beside as everyday. Unseen, unheard but you are always near. Yuka, Sean and I would like to wish her a smooth journey to our Heavenly Parents and True Parents. . We love you Cecilia. You inspired us and touch our life during our tough time. Thank you Cecilia. We love you always! We really enjoyed getting to know you when we worked together at Miracle Fish. And we connected so many times after that. We will be taking care of Roni and Tomomi, all will be well.

Roni e Tomomi e toda família, recebam ai meu sincero sentimentos. Ralmente estou muito muito triste mesmo. A Cicília, o Wilson quando viam em Pouso Alegre, íamos juntos para restaurar em Poços de Caldas e ela me ajudava muito, dava muita força. Cuidou do primeiro seminário de 7 dias que fiz em 1981 na Alves Ribeiro, Lins de Vasconcelos. Tenho certeza que Nosso Pai Celestial há de confortar seus corações. I am pained at heart to hear this news belatedly. Cecilia would call me at Il Hwa Ginseng, going back well over a decade, to place orders for herself and Mom during which time we would chat about all sorts of things that came to mind. I never met her personally, but it seems like the few conversations we held over the phone made us good friends. May you find peace in the highest realms my sister.
