In Memory of Bill Flowers

Name: Bill Flowers
Spouse: Ronda
Children: Charity
Birth Date: January 12, 1951
Blessed Date: July 1, 1982
Ascension Date: August 5, 2019

Our brother, Bill Flowers, passed into the spirit world on August 5, 2019.

Bill had come to Sunday Service the day before to drop off his donation. He was always faithful in his donations to the church, often supporting special projects or needs. He had to hurry home that day since he has had trouble finding help to take care of his daughter since his wife died last year. The next day was when he went missing.

It seems he had come home from work and planned to take a short hike before he had to meet his daughter’s bus. Hiking was one of his favorite activities, saying it brought him peace. It was 115 degrees in Arizona that afternoon. He never showed up to meet his daughter, leading to an intense search for him. He was found by another hiker that evening.

Bill was born William Lee Flowers on January 12, 1951, in Long Beach, California. He graduated high school at 17 years of age, in Orange County, CA, and graduated from UCLA with a degree in electrical engineering.

He joined the Unification Movement in Santa Monica, CA, in 1975, and had various missions in the church including Saeilo Machinery, and worked in the accounting office at the Seminary from 1977-1979. He was Blessed in marriage with Ronda French in the Madison Square Garden ceremony with 2075 couples on July 1, 1982. They have one child, Charity Ann. Although she is severely disabled, he loved her deeply, and felt it was a privilege to have the responsibility to take care of her.

In 1994, Bill, Ronda, and Charity moved from New York to Arizona, where Bill has family. He worked for several years at Sun Health, and for the past eleven years, was one of the heads of the IT department at the Mayo Hospital. They will be holding a memorial service for him.

Obviously, Bill had an amazing mind, and loved to discuss the depth of the Principle with members.

Bill was also very steadfast in his faith. When his wife Ronda passed away last year, leaving him as the main caregiver of their daughter, he never complained.

He was preceded in death by his father Jarrot, and is survived by his mother Marilyn, and his brothers Robert and James.

His sudden and unexpected passing has forced the Arizona members to realize they need to get their lives and affairs in order, as no one knows when they are going to pass.

Bill’s Seonghwa will be held Saturday, August 17 at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery (401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ, 85257), where the Arizona members created a Won Jeon several years ago. Information can be found on the Green Acres website at GreenAcresMortuary.net where a page for Bill has been set up and condolences can be left. Flower arrangements can also be sent to the Green Acre’s address.

Arizona members are thinking God had a need for Bill’s keen mind in the spirit world. He was also a very private person, so any experiences with Bill that members can share are welcome.

Bill was in Saeilo Machinery in New York when my wife and I came back to US from England to work there. Bill and Ronda kindly put us up in their apartment for a month or so until we could find our own place. Charity was a young girl then and I remember the challenges that they had at that time. We hope and pray that Charity will have others there for her now, so that Bill can feel at ease passing on into the Spiritual Realm.

I have not seen Bill since we were in the Unification Theological Seminary together in the late 1970’s. He is a person one cannot forget….I remember him as quiet, gentle, and kind. I knew his wife, Rhonda, in the early 1970’s in the Oakland Church. I have not seen her since then. They were both sincere people, and I pray for their joyful reunion in Spirit World.
