The Nashville Family Church held their first Matching Preparation Seminar on Saturday, February 17, 2018. The lecturers, Mr. John and Mrs. Helen Abelseth, presented the content for the community. Toku Ikekoto, a Blessed young Unificationist, emceed for the program. Although under rainy conditions, 13 participants (nine parents and four young adults) participated in the seminar. One couple attended from Memphis, Tennessee, which is a three-hour drive from Nashville.
All the participants listened eagerly to the lectures and asked many questions regarding the matching process. Young Unificationst couple Garrun and Yusun Abrahams shared their own matching experience via Skype. Mr. Abelseth also shared informative information using his own matching experiences with his children.
This seminar brought us one step closer to understanding the matching process and having confidence as parents.
Thank you so much for your support for the local churches in America, like Nashville.
Some insightful points that the participants shared included:
- The importance of the relationship between parents and child prior to the matching process.
- The most important things to remember are: Unity within the matching team, listening to each other, and never giving up.
- Parents should be in communication with their child and should not push their children if they are not ready.
- Knowing how many resources that are available to use is very comforting.
