Here is a collection of tips, tricks, and useful information to help make your special day as smooth and as joyful as possible.
Wedding Day Survival Kit:
- Safety pins – with dozens to hundreds of couples traveling in a frenzy, things can get chaotic and accidents can happen. Don’t let one miss-step spoil this beautiful moment, so come prepared with safety pins – the crazy glue for clothing.
- Bobby Pins – whether your bangs are becoming unruly, or your up-do is losing its shape, keep your hair looking picture-perfect with a handful of bobby pins.
- Tide To Go Instant Stain Remover – don’t let a small stain ruin your day, carry this travel sized stain remover with you for peace of mind.
- White Chalk – one handy trick for removing stains on the wedding dress is to use simple white chalk. Make sure to test a unnoticeable spot first beforehand.
- Band aids – as much as you think you have already broken into your new shoes, just in case, have a band aid to cover that blister or soon-to-be blister.
- Straws – for brides to drink water without ruining your lipstick.
- Body tape or double-sided tape – if you’re feeling unsure about how well your strapless dress will hold up, bring some body tape or double sided tape as a precaution.
- Additional items: tissues, krazy glue, mints, and deodorant.
Additional Tips for the Bride
Wear a dress shirt when getting hair and makeup done – dress shirts can be easily removed while t-shirts need to be pulled over your just-completed hair.
Invest into a long-lasting lipstick. Not only will you not have to worry about how it looks over time or whether it has run into your teeth, but you also don’t have to worry about accidentally staining something like your gloves or dress.
Bring some translucent face powder – translucent powder is an easy way to touch up your makeup hours later to cover oil and perspiration and to keep your makeup and face looking fresh.
For Those Traveling to Korea
Rings
If you have not yet purchased Blessing Rings, they will be available for sale in Korea at the resort. However, we also have a limited number of faux blessing rings that can be purchased for $15. These can be used either as a back up, or as a temporary ring if buying one now if difficult financially. The rings range from size 6-9.
Traveling on the Plane
One couple shared with us some excellent advice – take everything that you need for the Blessing Ceremony with you onto the plane. Although it is highly unlikely that your check in bag will be misplaced, if this were to happen, you can be confident knowing that you will still have everything that you need for the big day. This can include the suit for the groom and the wedding dress, makeup, and jewelry for the bride.
Also, for brides worried about wrinkled dresses, carry your dress in a garment bag and ask a flight attendant if they would be able to hang it upright in a closet on the plane.
NOTE: At the airport customs in Korea, avoid saying that you will be attending a wedding/Blessing ceremony unless specifically asked. Saying this will raise suspicion as to what your intentions are in Korea. You should say that you are in Korea for the purpose of tourism ONLY. Try to avoid making it obvious that you are carrying a wedding dress.
Ironing/Steaming
In the past, ironing has been very hectic. To avoid this, if you will need an iron or a steamer for your suit or dress, we recommend purchasing a travel iron/steamer. One example can be found here.
One way to minimize wrinkles is to use Downy Wrinkle Releaser, Travel Size Light Fresh Scent 3 fl oz, which smooths out wrinkles on light fabrics and eliminates odors, and is a great travel accompaniment for emergencies. Make sure to test the spray out on an unnoticeable part of your garment first.
