Terry Watanabe worked for many years at True World Foods, volunteered in the Bay Area Family Church, the Boy Scouts, and National Rifle Association, and had his own hiking ministry. When he was killed under tragic circumstances last year, the whole Unificationist community was shocked. Many friends and family attended his Seonghwa, giving deeply moving testimonies about his deep heart and wonderful life.
However, that wasn’t enough to remember him by. Mike and Monica Kellet took it upon themselves to work out with the city of San Leandro a place to pay tribute to this special brother. Because Terry was ever the outdoorsman, the best place was indeed the beginning of the hiking trails at the local Marina. The Kellets raised the money and put together a bench with a dedication marker honoring Terry with the words of True Father. Terry’s wife Kimie, Pastor Kevin Thompson, his wife, and a group of well-wishers gathered to dedicate the bench and put a permanent marker to a a life well-lived.
