Takeshi Joshua Yashiro was born in Kobe, Japan on November 24, 1949 to Rev. Michael Hinsuke Yashiro and Fumiko Suzumura Yashiro. Through his upbringing in the Anglican Church, he developed a deep love for Jesus. He was the youngest of eleven children and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

After surviving a serious illness in his late teens, Takeshi set out to better understand the world and traveled extensively across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. He came to the United States to attend college in San Francisco and met a missionary from theUnification Church. He attended Divine Principle workshops, joined the church in New York, and dedicated himself to various missions including Home Church.

Takeshi was blessed in marriage to Jennifer Beij in the 2075 Couples Blessing at Madison Square Garden in July 1982. They were delighted to experience the love of God as parents with the birth of their son Takashi in 1994 and daughter Abigail in 1998.

Takeshi was part of a group of church members who pioneered seafood businesses across the USA starting in the early 1980s, including retail stores, wholesale distributors, and Japanese sushi restaurants.

Most recently, he helped lead the development of the Ocean Providence wholesale seafood companies. He invested his whole heart and strove to make every business that he involved himself in both profitable and capable of contributing to causes that benefit humanity.

In early April 2018, Takeshi was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer that had spread to his liver. After ten days in the hospital, he was transferred to hospice care at home. He was embraced by God’s love through caring brothers and sisters in his final days and passed on peacefully at 10:24 PM on April 21, 2018 with his family by his side.

In addition to his wife and children, Takeshi is survived by his sisters Michiko Morishige, Yoko Yamaguchi, Kimiko Tanaka, Kuniko Shiba, Keiko Nishikawa, and Kazuko Yashiro.

Takeshi will always be remembered for his honesty, openness, determination, generosity, and filial piety toward Heavenly Parent and True Parents.
