Our dear brother Roger Gossement ascended to the spirit world on October 26, 2017, after suffering a stroke.
Roger Albert Gossement was born on April 8, 1953 in Nantes, France, to Rene and Augustine Gossement. In the early 1970’s, he met the Unification Movement in his home country. He had only been a member for a few weeks when in response to True Father’s call he volunteered to come to America to help with a national religious revival, The Day of Hope campaign.
He and his wife Darlene were Blessed in marriage in July of 1982 along with over 2,000 other couples at Madison Square Garden in New York City. They are the proud parents of two sons, Alex and Vincent, and a daughter, Naomi.
He is remembered as warm-hearted and always willing to help when he saw a need. Roger is a gentle person with a friendly sense of humor. For a number of years, Roger worked as a handyman and as an electrician at the New Yorker Hotel, in New York City. After he and his family settled in the Washington DC area, he began to work in the maintenance department at the Washington Times.
Switching professions, he obtained a degree in massage therapy and worked in this field until the effects of an earlier stroke made it impossible to continue. Roger loved people and was always interested in speaking to them, often at great length. He would bring out his massage table and offer a professional back massage to friends, acquaintances, and even strangers, many times for free, all the while entertaining his patients with his stories, delivered in his unmistakable French-accented English. He will be dearly missed by his wife Darlene, children Alex, Vincent and Naomi, as well his many friends both here and afar.
In recent years, Roger has been living in a group home in Reston, Virginia, where he was much loved and a good friend to many.

I will always remember Roger’s gentle disposition, perpetually warm smile and unfailing kindness. Heaven has been enhanced by his arrival.

I witnessed to Roger in Paris, in 1973. Though I can’t recall the exact date, it might have been close to the date when The French family sent 100 members to the US in December. Roger was one of them…
He had just completed a weekend workshop – few days later he decided to join the group leaving for the US.
I was myself a very new member (joined in April 1973) and the thought that Roger would join the group was unreasonable, almost irresponsible, given the few days he had been exposed to the DP… I even questioned his ability to process what was taken place in his life and whether or not he understood what he was getting into…
After all, he was about to leave everything for a new continent. Over the years, Roger had to adapt to changes, learn a new language and move some invisible mountains. We lost track of each other when I joined the Global Team after the MSG Christianity in Crisis event.
So my memory of Roger is that of a kind soul and I will add, one of great faith, trusting that his destiny was to follow the direction that was given to him, and the courage to face the challenges ahead of him, which by the way have turned into blessings of a great legacy of his wife and children, whom I hope to meet someday.
Well done dear and faithful brother Roger, may your life of faith and legacy continue to shine for thousands of years!

I remember Roger Gossement for I visit him in VA ,I loved his friendship , and I am surprise of his passing ,now my prayer for him is that he meet Paul Rosenbaum the chief “Prodigal Parent “in the spiritual world , for he is also qualified to see the Oneness White throne of God and graduate serving and worshipping the New Heaven and New earth , Original Peace is with you, your Friend ,Marius J.Henry O.BCF

I am sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. He was always a very friendly brother, ready to tell you one of his funny stories. I did hear a lot of them at one time working with him as missionaries for 40 days in
Durban, South Africa. I am sure he is making everyone laugh in the spirit world. God bless you Roger. Salut!
