Nomnandi Bengu was born in South Africa on June 8, 1975, attended primary and secondary school where she met the Unification movement via CARP activities. In 1995, she committed herself to join after studying the Divine Principle. With enthusiasm she engaged herself in missionary activities in her hometown, Johannesburg, until 1997 when she travelled to the USA to support the American Movement, first in Washington DC. She joined the 911 Team under the leadership of Rev. Levi Daugherty, doing outreach work to Christian churches and ministries. Working with CARP, she mastered the Character & Abstinence education curriculum, educating hundreds of high school students. Educating youth on clear moral values and the reasons for living them was her passion.
On November 28, 1997, Nandi received the Marriage Blessing with Mr. Jonte Moton at RFK Stadium in Washington DC. The union produced two beautiful girls, Hyung Ah (14) and Haylin (11).
From 1997 to 1998, Nandi’s mission was Mobile Fundraising. In a short period of time, she had the opportunity to travel far and wide across the USA learning about the American way of life. From 1998 to 1999, she reengaged with CARP-USA, drawing strength of faith from the clear vertical standards espoused in their training. She also formed a number of deep friendships that lasted to this day.
In 1999, Jonte and Nandi set up home in Atlanta, Georgia where they gave birth to and raised their two children. She involved herself in the local activities of the Atlanta Family Church, where she led the choir to new heights. In 2013, Nandi and her two children moved to New York City, set up home with the Harlem Family Church, and deeply engaged herself in local, as well as providential, activities. Nandi loved to sing as her offering to God and True Parents. She was a firecracker in character, fearless in her determinations to get things done, deeply devoted to True Parents, and never failed to call out sloppy standards of conduct in Principle. She leaves behind many wonderful memories of what it means to live a life of profound dedication.
Nandi ascended to the Spirit World on the morning of December 18 at Bellevue Hospital after over two years of battling the dreadful autoimmune disease, Lupus.

I only met her once and she made an important impact on my life. I never knew she was suffering.
Tears of love streaming down my face as I read this heartfelt story about her. Lupus must be stopped. I pray that Nandi’s spirit will find a way to use me in some way while I am still on the earth. Rest in peace, Sister.

My dear sister Nandi,
When I think of you I think of God and of Harlem and of Africa and of all that you poured out in your lifetime for Heaven. And I thank you for that. I thank you with tears and with gratitude. Imagine! That you came from South Africa to this nation of America with such a glorious mission from God. I have such a wonderful memory of you teaching the young people of my nation, in a place where I could not go, but there you were on behalf of True Parents . . . teaching youth about the pure love of God. I thank you, dear Nandi. And when I called you to help and advise me how to increase the membership of WFWP, you were excited and full of ideas, imparting your conviction and passion and practical advice. Thank you! I remember your courageous spirit. Standing by what you believed was right. I am still trying to
be courageous like you. I remember the special dispensation that silently happened at Imani Temple.
