Following is a testimony by Nevin's family.

family and friends

The eldest child of Floyd and Mary Colglazier, Nevin was born on September 22, 1950 in Walnut Park, California.  He is survived by younger brother Alan, sister Marianne Rischl, his mother Mary, wife Petra, and their two children, Ruth and Hans.  Nevin peacefully succumbed to brain cancer on Wednesday July 16, 2014, at 7:45 pm at a Hospice facility in Maryland with Petra, Ruth and Hans at his side.

Growing up Southern California, Nevin was always the youngest in his class, so he had to work extra hard in school.  At Western High School in Anaheim, he participated in choir and theatre; and traveled with them locally and to Canada performing as the “Living Christmas Tree”.  The choir produced several albums. He also performed as the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz (we know that Nevin is among the most courageous).

He went on to graduate from California State University/Long Beach in Criminology and dedicated his life to helping young people.  While visiting UC Berkeley in 1975, Nevin was introduced to the Unification Church, and became actively involved.  Nevin’s earlier experiences with EST (Erhard Seminar Training) helped him to develop his purpose and vision in life.  In 1976, he participated in the Yankee Stadium campaign, and then helped bring 300,000 people to the Washington Monument Rally in September of that year.

Nevin worked for several years to help build International Exchange Maintenance, a local business in Oakland and Los Angeles. Following that, he participated in fundraising efforts for a number of years. He then attended the Unification Theological Seminary in Barrytown, New York, where he graduated in 1982.

Nevin was Blessed in marriage to Petra Roller on July 1,1982 at Madison Square Garden.  In 1977, Nevin introduced his younger sister Marianne (Rischl) to the Unification Church – she was also Blessed in marriage at the same event.  Nevin and Petra built a home and family together, raising Ruth (27) and Hans (24).

While serving as a State Leader for the church in Connecticut, Nevin was injured and hooked to an IV for six months to save his foot – all the while driving a motor home for the CAUSA campaign (committed to ending communism and the cold war).  It was during this same time that Reverend Moon had been imprisoned in Danbury, CT.  In the later 1980’s and early 1990’s, both Nevin and Petra worked with the Washington Times newspaper.

Nevin was hardworking, generous and had an absolute love for God. He will be as he was on earth, in action and creating the space for God and True Parents to dwell. Thank you for your love and prayers.
