Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Our beloved brother, Joseph Edward Coyne, of the Clifton, NJ community, ascended to the Spirit World on Saturday, June 3. Joe has been with our True Parents and our Unification family for over 40 years. He has been part of many significant mobilizations and activities, and stayed very involved in his community throughout his professional life. His family and friends will always cherish Joe's memory for his great love, dedication, and life of service.

Joe is survived by his wife Yuko, and his children, Jinmyon, Nathan, David, and Anna.

Let us join together to support Joe's family, and pray for his victorious transition to a glorious new life in the spiritual world, where our True Father and many saints are waiting for him with open arms.

Following is a biography and information about Joseph's Seonghwa Ceremony from his family and Pastor Manoj Jacob.

Joseph Coyne was born on November 20th, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Theresa Coyne as the oldest of four children. He was raised in Gibbsboro, NJ and attended Bishop Eustice Preparatory School in Pennsauken Township, NJ. Joseph began attending Rutgers University, New Brunswick in 1972 where he studied Political Science. He was also a brother of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and played on the Ultimate Frisbee Team. He joined the Unification Church in May of 1973 while attending University and started up CARP on campus. Joe eventually decided to postpone his studies in 1975 to fully devote himself to missionary work. He spent the next 11 years spreading the teachings of the Unification Church as part of MFT through fundraising, leading various workshops, and giving lectures across the country. In 1990, he also spent time doing missionary work for 40-days in Kinshasa, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) in Africa.

After leaving MFT, Joe began his professional career at Crystal World, Inc., and went on to work for Wacom Technology, PG Arbor & Company, and Christian Bernard throughout the 1990’s and early 2000’s. During this time, on the nights and weekends, he completed his Bachelor’s degree at Excelsior College in 1996 and an additional MBA degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2002. He eventually joined iZone Group in 2002, where he continued to work for the rest of his career, most recently as a Wholesale Business Development Manager.

Outside of work, Joe was President of the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Parents Foundation non-profit organization. He has been actively involved with the organization since its founding in 1994 and truly believed that family is the starting point of life. He was humbled and grateful to be able to meet so many incredible people through his work with the organization.
Joe received the Marriage Blessing with Yuko (Ikedagaki) on January 12, 1989, in Korea at the 1,275 Couples Blessing and together had four children: Jinmyon (Jimmy), Nathan, David, and Anna.

In his free time, Joe loved to expand his knowledge by reading books on a variety of subjects, take walks in nature where he connected with God best, and continually took on new challenges to provoke new growth in his life.

Joseph unexpectedly ascended on Saturday, June 3, 2017 while hiking the trails of the Delaware Watergap National Recreational Area. He is survived by his wife, children, two brothers, Robert Coyne and wife, Heidi of Orlando, FL and Christopher Coyne of New Smyrna Beach, FL and by a sister, Eileen Beniston and husband, Bruce of Pitman.
